Medicare
Original Medicare or another Advantage plan when yours leaves?
Another Advantage plan usually costs less each month but uses a network. Original Medicare lets you see any doctor that accepts it but usually needs a drug plan and often a supplement. Doctors, medicines and budget decide it.
How they differ
- Advantage plan: a network, a yearly limit on costs, drug coverage often included, extras like dental in some plans.
- Original Medicare: any doctor that accepts Medicare, no yearly limit unless you add a supplement, a separate drug plan.
- Supplement (Medigap): can pay much of what Original Medicare leaves, and has its own monthly premium.
Questions that settle it
Which doctors do I need to keep? How often do I use care? What can I afford each month and in a bad year? Answering those three usually points to one side.

Common questions
Can I change my mind later?
Advantage plan changes are limited to set windows. Medigap approval after your window can involve health questions, so decide with care.
Is one cheaper?
It depends on how much care you use. We compare them using your own doctors and medicines.
