How to tell if your Medicare plan is changing for 2027
Check two mailings: the Annual Notice of Change, which describes changes to a plan that continues, and a nonrenewal notice, which says a plan will not continue. If you got neither, ask your plan.
The two documents
- Annual Notice of Change: mailed in the fall for plans that continue, listing changes in costs, benefits and networks.
- Nonrenewal notice: sent when a plan will not be offered next year.
- Evidence of Coverage: the full plan rules, available from your plan.
Another place to look
CMS publishes public plan lists. Our Medicare plan changes pages summarize what those lists show for each state and company. They are a way to see what is happening in your area, not a notice about your own plan.
Have this ready when you call
- Your plan's mail from this fall
- Your plan name
- Your ZIP code
Common questions
I threw the mail away. What now?
Call your plan, or log in to its member site. They can resend the notice.
Can a plan change in the middle of the year?
Costs and benefits are set for the year. Provider networks can change, and a plan can end at year end.
