ACA open enrollment for 2027: the dates, and the one that really matters
On HealthCare.gov, open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027. Sign up by December 15, 2026 and coverage starts January 1, 2027; sign up later and it starts February 1, 2027.
The dates
- November 1, 2026: open enrollment begins.
- December 15, 2026: the last day to sign up for coverage that starts January 1, 2027.
- December 16, 2026 to January 15, 2027: you can still sign up, with coverage starting February 1, 2027.
State-run marketplaces
States that run their own marketplace set their own dates, and some end earlier or later. If you do not use HealthCare.gov, confirm the dates on your state's marketplace.
Have this ready when you call
- Household members' names and birth dates
- Your income estimate for 2027
- Your current plan's name
Common questions
What if I sign up on January 10?
Coverage would start February 1, 2027, so you would be without this plan for January.
Does my plan renew on its own?
Usually yes, but the price, doctors and drug list can change, so check your renewal notice.
