Doctor and medication lookup questions
Does this tell me if my plan covers this medication or doctor?
No -- that depends on the specific plan, which this tool doesn't check. What it does is help you arrive at your call with the exact medication name and doctor NPI number an agent needs to check that for you quickly.
Where does this information come from?
The medication search uses RxNav, the National Library of Medicine's public drug-naming database. The doctor search uses the NPI Registry, the federal government's public database of every licensed provider's National Provider Identifier. Both are free, public, official sources -- not a private or estimated list.
Why does the doctor's NPI number matter?
An NPI number identifies your specific doctor unambiguously -- helpful when a common name could otherwise mean checking the wrong person against a plan's network.
